Treatments - Skin CareFacialsRelax Revitalise Rejeuvenate What is a FacialAll facial treatments use Dermalogica’s “Face Mapping" analysis and nourishing cocktail of vitamins, botanical extracts and conditioning products to help improve elasticity, tone, luminosity and texture of the face. Treatments are customised to target the skin’s specific need, such as acne, eczema, mature, roseacea, scarring and sensitised skins, to de-sensitise, soothe, purify, nourish, and revitalise without irritation. TreatmentEach facial begins with a professional analysis, deep cleanse (the use of steam may be used) and removal of surface dead skin cells with extraction of whiteheads and/or blackheads if appropriate. Customised serums and masques are then applied to each area as indicated and gently worked into the skin before careful removal to prepare the face for the selected additive, which is once again worked into the tissues. The additive remains on the skin and is replenished with eye cream, toner and moisturiser. A short massage to the chest, shoulders, neck and face is then given, followed by a sun protector if appropriate. A brief scalp massage completes these therapeutic treatments. BenefitsSculpture Facial – £51.00 approx 60 mins / £75.00 approx 90 mins Hazel’s incredibly gentle ‘signature’ facial uses subtle healing energies to gain amazing results in muscle lift and definition, clarity of skin texture and softening of lines and wrinkles. This intensive treatment, which can be likened to a non-surgical face lift without the use of a machine, not only brightens the entire complexion but also offers a wonderful experience of deep relaxation and rejuvenation. Using only her finger tips it is possible to connect to with client’s varying vibrating bio-electro-magnetic energy frequencies and those other more subtle energies that quantum physics is still on the verge of understanding. Together, with her own energies and conscious thought, change can be effected on the cellular level to bring about the body’s natural state of rejuvenation and repair as cells are literally stimulated to soften, detoxify and slide back to their normal positioning – not where the daily life’s tensions have ‘put’ them. The improved flow of energy and circulation increases the oxygen uptake to plump and firm the tissues bringing immediate, noticeable results of a much brighter and youthful appearance. Treatment can benefit more than the many varying skin conditions as it may also bring release on an emotional level. Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) - £51.00 approx 60 mins Stimulates the body's lymphatic system using specific gentle, rhythmical, and precise, pumping techniques to help reduce puffiness and improve the immune system. Cathio Facial – £65.00 approx 75 mins Uses galvanic current to aid deeper cleansing of congested skins or re-hydrate and soften dry, mature and environmentally aged skins, followed by techniques used in the Sculpture Facial. Micro-current Facial – (Non-Surgical Face Lift) - £50.00 approx 45 mins Offers muscle lift and improved skin tone using micro-current technology as opposed to subtle energies to target deep frown furrows, nose to mouth lines and harsh wrinkles. HistoryCleopratra is cited as having been interested in facial treatments and Ayurevdic beauty regimes have been dated from at least 2500 years ago. Between 1932 –1936 Dr Vodder developed Manual Lymph Drainage massage. In 1965 - Cathio treatments were first developed in France by Guinot. During the late 1980s Micro-current therapy was used in the to treat facial weakness in victims of Bells Palsy and strokes. Hazel has been developing and refining her signature Sculpture Facial since 1995. Advanced ElectrolysisWhat is Advanced Electrolysis?Advanced electrolysis- from £40.00 approx15 mins rising to £70.00 approx 45 mins Or ‘Thermology’ is a safe, fast and effective treatment using a shortwave diathermy electrical current for the permanent removal unwanted blemishes, such as: Blood Spots (Cherry Angioma) - small Naevus which are formed by a dilation of the capilliaries. Their cause is unknown. Blood Spots (Campbell de Morgan) – consisting of more dilated capillaries than Cherry Angioma, they generally larger and darker and have been present much longer. Milia - tiny, hard, white dots located under the upper layer of the skin. They contain solidified sebum from the oil glands and are often found around the eye area, on the cheeks, nose and chin and cannot be removed by normal methods of extraction. Some experts believe Milia are caused by sun induced changes as the skin ages, others believe use of overly rich skin creams are the cause, whilst other dermatologists maintain that they are simply caused by oily skin or a genetic predisposition towards them. Moles - small dark marks on the skin caused by cells that produce pigment (colour). They are usually circular or oval in shape with a smooth edge though can be rough, can be flat or raised and some have hair growing from them. Some moles are present at birth, however, most develop during the first 20 years of life (and sometimes into the 30s and 40s). They can start to look different over time and sometimes respond to hormonal changes, such as adolescence, pregnancy and the menopause. Most moles are normal and harmless, but in a few cases they can develop into melanoma, a type of skin cancer. Check your moles every few months:
Before any mole is removed it is vital to have it diagnosed from your GP as being non-malignant. Red or Thread Veins (Telangiectasia) - superficial blood capillaries that have permanently dilated and so become visible. They are more commonly found on dry, sensitive skin of the face although they can develop on the torso and legs. Thread veins may appear individually or as a very fine network of red wavy lines that lie just under the surface of the skin. Causes include hereditary factors, skin fragility or trauma, hormonal changes such as the contraceptive pill and pregnancy, ageing, extreme temperature changes, alcohol, spicy diets, smoking, exposure to sunbeds and use of topical steroid. Skin Tags (Penduculated Papillomas) - small skin-coloured (sometimes darker) benign tumours that may be smooth or irregular in appearance varying in size from a tiny speck, to the size of a large pea, forming primarily on the face, eyelids, neck and armpits. They generally range in size from 2 – 5mm and are often raised from the surface of the skin on a fleshy stalk called a penducle, although they can have a short neck, appear quite flat but still are fleshy to the touch. They are mostly found after the age of thirty and their cause is as yet unknown. Spider Naevus - a small raised centrally dilated blood vessel having the appearance of a blood spot, with smaller dilated capillaries radiating from it rather like the legs of a spider. They are commonly found on the cheeks and upper chest area and are often caused by damage to the skin, ie squeezing or an injury to the face or during pregnancy when hormonal changes occur. Warts and Verrucas -benign cutaneous tumours that are viral and contagious, commonly appearing on the feet, hands and lower arms. TreatmentsAfter sterilising the area a pre-sterilised disposable probe is connected to a short-wave high frequency electrical current, a small amount of heat is generated to cauterise and remove (if necessary) the affected blemish permanently. Some slight discomfort may be experienced during treatment. Treatment time and the number of appointments required is dependent upon varying factors, such as the skin’s condition and the size of area involved, although generally a single treatment is all that is necessary. Aftercare is minimal and invariably there is no scarring, healing can be almost immediate or up to 10 days. Sometimes loss of pigmentation does occur which if it does, soon becomes barely visible. Benefits The benefits of advanced electrolysis offers:
History of ElectrolysisIn 1875 Dr Charles Michel first realised when he removed ingrown eyelashes that galvanic electrolysis (producing a chemical reaction) could be used successfully to permanently destroy the cells that produce the hair in hair follicles. Producing heat much faster a shortwave diathermy method soon replaced galvanic electrolysis although is not quite as effective. Finally in 1949 a third method known as ‘blend’ was developed, combining the benefits of both galvanism’s efficacy and shortwave diathermy’s speed. Advanced electrolysis only uses the quicker method of shortwave diathermy as it requires the heat generated to ensure efficient and effective removal of the offending blemish. Beauty TreatmentsWaxingAn excellent method using extremely gentle vegetable extracts to remove superfluous hair. Shaving only removes the surface hair so it can often leave the skin feeling rough and uncomfortable with an immediate re-growth. Waxing removes the hair completely from the follicle resulting in silky smooth skin and offers up to 6 weeks of hair free freedom.
